Composite Restorations and “Bonding”

Composite restorations are comprised of a tooth colored resin material that is bonded to the tooth structure to repair areas of tooth structure where decay has been removed or where tooth structure has been damaged or broken.

The bonding process seals the tooth structure to optimize the health of the tooth.

Composite “bonding” often refers to the same process as described above but usually refers to improving the esthetics of anterior teeth.

“Bonding” can be utilized to improve the shapes of teeth (length, width, color, etc.), can restore broken teeth, and can also be used to strategically close gaps between teeth.
